Just had a look on Southampton's Echo to a comment section on VVD situation - the hatred for all things Liverpool on there is unbelievable. The absolute bile some are commenting is beyond belief, literally couldn't believe some of the stuff these so called "fans" were saying. And that they'd be allowed on a supposedly reputable website. Wow! Can only imagine the bile that's rejected from this site having read that.

{Ed001's Note - we have not exactly done anything to endear ourselves to them as a club to be fair. How many of their players have been 'encouraged' to force their way out?}

I know mate, but they are mentioning things that are just sick (Heysel/ Hillsborough etc. ), as well as calling all LFC fans murderers.
There's no need for that, obviously you weren't aware of how sick some of the comments were on there and I wouldn't recommend reading it as it'd make your skin crawl and blood boil.
I expect to see that sort of thing on sites that aren't moderated but not on their own local rag's comment section - sickening!
Minority obviously, but still - maybe I'm just a bit too sheltered ha!

{Ed001's Note - I can believe it, I experienced it living down south as a scouser when it happened. It is always there under the surface, just waiting for a chance to emerge. The internet gives them a chance to say what they would not normally have the guts to say, because they are hiding behind a keyboard.}

Yeah unfortunately you're right about the cowards on the internet - makes my blood boil.
The north/ south divide over there in the UK is mental to me as well as the other territorial divides.
It's a weird one for me to understand even though I lived there for a while in the early 00's.
Not the same where I live, we all stand together (for now at least ha) .
I guess the in-comings to the country of the last 60 plus years of individuals who don't integrate doesn't help your cause, it's a serious loss of identity or almost an embarrassment of being English which is weird to me.
Anyway it's too serious a conversation to have on here ha!
Would almost need a psychologist after this.

{Ed001's Note - I actually think the incoming foreigners are not the problem, it is the little Englunders who want a return to the days of Empire that are the ones that cause most of the problems. It was very much those that used to give me grief.}

It's a shame whatever the issue is.
It was London that I was living in and around and where I saw the issues with certain sections not bothered about integrating, never had an issue with the English I must say, they couldn't have been nicer to me in fact considering the issues that were still going on with regards to Northern Ireland and me being from the Republic.
I was paranoid moving there initially as to how I'd be treated and would purposefully either keep quiet or try to speak with a soft English accent but I honestly was very surprised (happily) by how I was treated, which is a credit to the English and I always tell people this at any opportunity if they speak ill of the English. It was actually foreigners like myself (but from from further away) who weren't very pleasant or attempted to exploit the situation with myself to be honest. Just shows you though that we all have different experiences/ stories and not all English/ foreigners should be put in the same bracket. There's bad eggs in every batch.

{Ed001's Note - very true mate.}

Back to the original subject briefly if I may, what do you think of Liverpool supporters generally yourself these days?
Have we lost our aura we once seemed to have as a group? Sadly, I think so, due to day trippers in the stadium for matches, trolls on the internet etc.
I suppose all clubs have it but I rarely frequent other clubs' websites etc.
As an Irish guy, I became a fan due to the connection between Liverpool and Ireland plus the fans, about 90% of my decision was due to the fans.
My brothers were Manc or Arsenal fans and could never explain why, but I always could point to our incredible fans, not so sure anymore.
Some top players joined us because our fans were so incredible up until maybe 5 or 6 years ago, not so sure that would happen as much anymore, social media has shown there's a nasty element amongst us sadly.
The way Lucas was treated in the stadium was almost seen as acceptable as he was paid a few grand a week, I found this type of behaviour just grew and has become the norm now for underachieving players.
Only deserving of it if not trying such as with Balotelli in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, the fans have lost their aura. Very definitely. The official forum is a vile place for instance. It is the same for every club and probably more indicative of the internet allowing people to see the things people used to only say in secret behind closed doors.}

Yeah the internet has become a very real monster of it's own making. Can only imagine what happens or is said on the "dark web".
Only found out about that from a guy at work who works in Cyber Security, blew my mind (not in a good way) what he told me he has seen or has investigated himself on there - pretty sure he has only scratched the surface of it too, which is mental.
The next generation most likely are in for a real barrel of sheeit with that once it becomes more known about, used and abused.

{Ed001's Note - I remember the old days, when I first started doing the sites, and being on a P2P network programme. That had some dodgy stuff on there and a lot of hackers too. A lot of decent folk, but a lot of vile ones too and you had to be very careful, there are lots of sick folk out there.}

Yeah agreed, your next door neighbour could be a hacker these days .
Even just getting into your Wifi settings these days, to steal your data or to use your provider's modem in your house is pretty easy I'm told.
He told me that once household refrigerator controls begin fully going through wifi settings as is planned soon, that it will be criminally easy for even low level/ amateur hackers to hack your online details.
He had endless depressing stories about it haha!
Avoided him since :)

{Ed001's Note - I would never buy any of these Internet of Things white goods personally. They are dangerous.}

Know what you mean yeah!

{Ed001's Note - I got hacked once and all my cards cloned etc. I would never want that to happen again.}
