The injuries to our midfield and our lack of game management in certain games will be our downfall I think. Chelsea have very winnable games coming up whereas we have some tough fixtures, West Ham will do us if we play that way away from home. I think this is where chelsea might create a gap, purely because we are suffering from injuries in that midfield, that only consists of Henderson as a dependable player for me. Fab is a huge miss, and no one knows when these players are expected to return. Salah and mane leaving for afcon in jan doesn’t bode well either, as there would be no one to save us from the poor defending atm. Bad day at the office, but our weaknesses are clear and it will be hard to fix due to the personnel available imo. I really hope I’m wrong, and we continue to push on.

Is anyone else concerned about the run in we’ve got coming up. We play Spurs, PSG, Chelsea twice, Napoli and city in our next 7 games. That is mental. I know we should be supremely confident at the minute but with the international break and how rusty we’ve looked at times this season it does fill me with slight concern. I do reckon we’ll get results in some of those matches mind, but If we somehow come away with winning 4/ 5 of those games that would be a huge statement and probably make us favourites, especially if one of those wins is against city.

Great result yesterday though, and I reckon Allisson will learn from that mistake, he’ll know not to mess around like that anymore.

Roma it is then, this is the only tie I would have wanted us to be at home for the second leg but nevertheless this is a team we should beat. I think it will be a close one, their style counters ours somewhat but we’ll have to blitz them at home at put the tie to bed in the first game as we did against Porto and city. I know they came back against Barcelona but lightning won’t strike twice, that’s if we get a healthy lead. Something tells me this is going to be really close and probably decided on pens.

Today's game was literally the difference between a very good chance of top 4 without the unlikely scenerio of winning the Europa, and being an average mid table team that we have been all season. Not many 'top teams' would let a 2-0 goal lead slip like that. I mean that is Rogers esque. Not blaming klopp, definitely blaming individual players. We have not become a solid team, I'm hoping we will after klopp has a summer under his belt with his squad, but I'm naturally not optimistic as that's what being a Liverpool fan has become. You shut out 2-0 leads, become defensive, park the bus. It's called adapting, all the top managers know how to adapt. Nothing has changed in respect to that, we still leak goals like a b****. I've never appreciated defensive football more after these last few seasons.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, whoever thought we where still in for top 4 is off their trolley. That is like saying Arsenal will win the league. I know there's a thing called optimism but there's also a thing called reality. only chance of CL is Europa and honestly, I used to enjoy games like the one we will have against Dortmund, because we used to compete, even if the team was superior to us. But that doesn't happen anymore. We struggle against ludagrets, Augsburg and the mighty sion these days.

I know this is extremely negative after such a trivial result but I've become numb to these results. Like they don't suprise me anymore. I guess the reason I'm a little annoyed is because it's been a crap set of results this weekend.

Also I must say, I'm feeling a bit 'I knew it' when it comes to firmino. I have eaten my words when players have improved and came out and said it, as it's what I want them to do. Firmino has done far from that and it has to be said, he has been a flop so far. I don't see it changing if I'm honest. I said he would be a slight improvement on lallana in terms of stats, but he will probably end up with a worse return. I knew £29mill was comical.

There’s a question I’ve been thinking about for a while, but because I assumed I knew the answer I haven’t asked it. But has any club in the PL era, ever been in the europa league and won the PL in the same season?

I assumed the answer was no as I can’t remember it being the case unless it happened in the 90’s when I would have been too young to realise it happened. Apologies if this has been asked and answered before.

Looks like there might be an improved offer for Jamal Lewis, I do rate his potential and I do think he could improve playing under study to Robertson and under Klopp coaching. Konstantinos Tsimikas Does look a more established player at this stage and if we were going for a first choice left back, he would be quite high on the list for me, since he would probably cost less than Jamal. This home grown quota that needs to be met though is a big factor it seems. I understand city have the same problem but they’re still investing in foreign talent thus far, let’s hope some rules still apply to them. I like the look of Ben white, but not as a second choice CB, more like a replacement for Lovren and not matip, if he was to leave. Not sure if we’re seriously interested in him or not though, and if it meant not being able to pursue Diego Carlos, then I wouldn’t go for it.

Also I saw a really clever song for Minamino on the bbc sport website to the tune of scobby doo:

Minaminooo, where are you?
We got some goals to make now

😂 cheesy but clever even though you have to change how the first name sounds.

I mentioned during the Salzburg match that I thought we would be interested in Minamino, his playing style and the way he fits into Salzburg system means that he could find it easier to transition into our system, that can’t be said for a lot of top quality players. I did think that this sort of transfer would happen in the summer, where I expect 1 or 2 high profile names to leave, and If that were to be the case then Minamino wouldn’t be the only one to come in, in that area. From watching other games of him I definitely think he needs coaching, because whilst the transfer is exciting since it mostly always is when Liverpool are getting a player, it’s important to look at the finer details. He has a few things to his game that needs ironing out for him to be productive in our team at the highest level, I believe and hope Klopp can do this but you never know. I can say that he’s not a ready made player but he has the talent to become one and for the price it represents good business and also suggests to me that we might have been interested in Ryan Fraser since they’re such similar positions, it’s clear we’ve marked that as an area to strengthen. Another important thing to note is that Minamino opens up a path to the Asian market, we don’t have any Asian players so with the Nike deal in place, this deal makes sense in more ways than one.

I do like the likes of shaq and Origi though, and I think they’ve been integral parts to our squad depth, whenever they’ve been asked to rotate they’ve mostly made positive impacts so I really hope they get equal opportunities. Klopps problem with shaq has always been his work rate and I think this transfer might reflect that, I just hope we keep him until at least the summer and I hope we use him when we can.

Best draw we could have hoped for and I don’t look into the whole ‘playing at home in the second leg’ as a huge factor to be honest. Last season playing at home first worked for us well so long may that continue. Not going to be easy but it’s the easiest out of the lot, the semi final draw wasn’t favourable if we are to get through but I’d rather face Barcelona or united in the semis than in the final. I think we’d need two legs to beat either of those teams.
