as much as I hate it, the basic reason behind Liverpool FCs perineal struggle to stay near the top of the premiership is down to the owners. we cannot quite attract and buy the level of player we really require to break our now lengthening wait for another league title. We should be able to. If we payed the same wahges and had the same monetary input as Chelsea and man City then we would I believe attract players easily before either of those clubs who let's not forget struggled for many many years before they secured rich owners. neither Club was anywhere close to the stature of Liverpool and in every way except on the pitch are still nowhere close. i'm pretty tired of every year hearing the same old "We are building something" garbage. I dream of a strong team with hard dynamic midfielders. I dream of a striker who is a nightmare to play against. I dream of a goalkeeper who is confident and commanding. I dream of defenders who a rugged and defend first and foremost. I dream of deeper lying forwards who have the guile and craft of a Dalglish. But we never quite reach those levels. We do well lots of times in games only to then get seriously outfoxed by teams encamped in the lower half of the table. And as a fan you can almost predict what is going to happen especially in a home game. I think the Americans have done a lot for the club. But why build a 54000 capacity when we could easily draw 70000 plus to games? Its because they don't quite have the money to do that. I think Liverpool need a new kind of solidity and steel, the type only money and hard work combined can bring. Times have changed and in a post modern football world, whether we like it, agree with it or not, Liverpool deserves owners who can turn this club into a true reflection of what they are, one of the worlds biggest clubs. So Mr Henry. Sell up please and to those who make decisions, make sure we sell to owners who can change us not from doubters to believers, but from not quite there to winners.

{Ed001's Note - so it's not down to the owners then? Or do you think they should throw away millions just to please?

How you can criticise the size of the stadium I will never know. We could not have made it any larger than 60k, which is the size the next phase would take us to, due to the infrastructure in the area. The road and rail network needs to be improved for us to make a bigger stadium.

By the way, I do think the owners have made a lot of mistakes, but not throwing away money is not one of them. Ticket prices is one. A big one. Having to be publicly shamed and embarrassed into banning that filthy rag the S*n from Anfield was an even bigger one. The appointment of Ian Ayre to an executive role was also a very large mistake, though understandable as they wanted a local, a fan, who could identify with the club. Shame he was clueless in the role.}
