Our recent run of form has been disappointing and our performances (even in some of the wins ) have left a lot to be desired

I was going to post the following after the United match but refrained

Last season was awful compared with what went before

We finished 5th - 4points off a CL place and a full 22points off the winners

We conceded 47 league goals which has been our highest total conceded since 2015/ 16

We exited both the league cup and FA Cup in round 4 and got smashed by Real Madrid in the CL

We have to keep some perspective
To go from that position to challenging for the title and winning silverware is progress

Yes recently we haven't performed that well but we are still IMO a squad that needs adding to and that isn't going to happen overnight.

Realistically it has been not changing that squad early enough that has hampered us if anything

To be where we are after the season we had last time out is not something to be sniffed at - securing CL football this season was a priority and we should still be able to do that.

It's almost as if Klopp leaving has added additional expectation to what we can do.

We want to win everything - but we can't expect to win everything

Let's keep on the level, keep supporting all our players and enjoy the run-in.

Remember when we lost to Barcelona 3-0? look what happened there. I know, wishful thinking and all that but it's a nice thought atleast. We've blown it I'm afraid, we're out of that competition in my opinion. I didn't get to watch much of it, thankfully!

He's been excellent for us this season, and kept us in many games, but I'm afraid Kelleher was at fault tonight for 2 of their goals.

A fit Alison stops 2 of those shots tonight.

Nevertheless, no excuses, we got nothing because we deserved nothing, and it will be a miracle if we get through this tie now.

I was also very bemused by the team selection, but that was not the only reason we got smashed tonight.

This is a fatal blow for the rest of the season. I have a horrible feeling City will get their customery 5 goals against bottom of the table teams on Saturday against Luton, Arsenal will comfortbaly beat Villa and Palace will win at Anfield. Then next Thursday its same again in the return leg in Italy. This could be a very hard sad end to the season. Legs look like they have gone at the worst time. i'm not sure there is any coming back from that performance. A few weeks of club football have taken us from potential quadruple winners to winning the league Cup. The fans of other teams will be having a field day with this one.

My god that was dreadful. we've been poor for a good while if truth be told, good here and there but in general v poor. Gakpo only positive I could take from game, thought it done OK. Endo+ gomez atrocious in particular. V real possibility the season fizzles out the way we playing, if vvd r mac ain't doing it for us nobody is.

The poor performance against a very poor team at Man U. Did not bode well.
Atalanta are just above mid table.
We are now out of this competition.
Liverpool lost their mojo when Klopp announced he would be leaving.
We could not cope with their man marking system.
As proved against Man U. Liverpool couldn't hit a bull's bum with a banjo.
Something has gone from the players.
It happens. Unfortunately it happened at the wrong time of year.
I want to be positive, but cannot.

Shocking result. Yes, the play was extremely poor but the atmosphere was not helped by the lack of flags.

Why choose this game, with what could be Klopp’s last European night Anfield game, as one where there shouldn’t be any flags and subdue the atmosphere?

Couldn’t we have just done a small protest before the game outside the stadium? Why affect a European night at Anfield? Did Klopp really deserve this after all he’s done?
Klopp waving to the crowd at the end - he wouldn’t have wanted this as his last Anfield game under the lights.

A pity.

Never felt like this after a game. Klopps last European game at anfield and we go out with a whimper. Absolutely dominated by an average side. Reality probably is we’ve been getting away with poor performances for quite a while and changed nothing so Klopp has to take blame too. Big job in the summer. A lot of those players aren’t as good as they’ve been made out to be and have disgraced the club tonight. End of an Era.

Wow just wow Joe Gomez should never wear a Liverpool jersey again. Salah is finished. And Kelleher will never ever ever be an Allison. I could go through so many more but what's the point.
