In an article for Sky, merson had said England not getting to the semi final would be a bad tournament because Columbia aren't great and after that it's Switzerland or Sweden to which he says "if you can't beat those to sides you're never winning the World Cup" he later goes on to tip Brazil to win the World Cup despite them drawing with Switzerland less that 2 weeks ago in the group phase. You really could not make it up.

People really are sheep for a bandwagon. Yes our midfield wasn't great this season (it never has been) and has been our weakest area of the team for 5-6-7 years maybe 10. The problem this season has been that the critical part of a football match happens in both boxes and we've defended and finished terribly for most of the season. Now yes all these things happen as a team you defend and attack as a team and both are supported or propped up by a good well balanced midfield. But the problem has been in the main that we did not finish our chances. If Darwin Nunez could finish we'd have finished 3rd this season, the chances he missed and the momentum lost or not gained in games due simply to him missing huge chances would've turned our season around. The lack of goals then puts pressure on the defence as now every time we concede first nobody believes we will score because we miss 98% of our biggest chances which never ever happened before. The game is won and lost in the boxes I say it again. If Nunez had scored the 20 goals he should've from the chances he missed we finish 3rd and there's probably no drama at all this season. Of course there are other players who missed chances but his stick out most as costing points.

This is why Michael Edwards is leaving he's fed up of being semi retired at 35 doing 1 deal every 2 years. He's going to go to Real Madrid where he will be involved in signing mbappe and halland this year and and next year it'll be more and more and more.

I'd like to say how good naby and billy the kid were last night. Naby imo was the biggest reason we got back charge of the game and started taking it to them and looking dangerous. And billy the kid although possibly culpable on the first goal I thought he looked really calm and composed and played passes joe Gomez for example isn't capable of some of them were inspired by the passes the usual left center back plays. I was very surprised to see him in the side as since his initial first team exposure a few years back he's been really struggling with u23 and u19 football often giving away penalties and goals with slack passes.
