Don’t like to complain about officiating but it was borderline farcical yesterday.

The ref set the precedent from the get go when Trent was bundled off the pitch from a blatant shove from Gordon and subsequently booked Trent for throwing the ball (which wouldn’t have happened had he given a foul rightly in the first place) .

The red card is very harsh but unfortunately from the rules it is a red.

The rest of the game was a joke. Every Newcastle player was given relative freedom to commit endless tactical fouls, kick our players into oblivion with no warnings or cards. Joelinton was eventually warned by the ref only to then commit another two fouls (and had advantages given and not pulled back) and still wasn’t booked. Bruno G and Tonali were also similar. I think Bruno G and Joelinton made around 8-10 fouls in total with no bookings. Last season the only player in Liverpool to make 4 fouls in a match and not get booked was Luis Diaz and that was across a whole season, Newcastle have three players in one game.

The bit that irks me the most was Gordon kicking the ball away twice after fouls (and not being booked) and Joelinton also doing it again, then Nunez kicks the ball two yards after a foul and is given a yellow. The inconsistency was absolutely staggering and the game was officiated horribly.

When are these officials ever going to be called out for their horrific performances? I feel they get away with it because we won, same as last game against Bournemouth. Then again it’s hardly surprising when the ref is the same one who watched Gakpo get assaulted vs Villa last season and determine that a Karate kick to the upper chest is not a red card.

I’m sure they’re pleased Mike Dean has also admitted to protecting his mate in a game rather than giving the correct decision. Absolute band of incompetent goons the lot of them.

Disgusting performance that.

Nobody looked arsed, think the players want the season to end as much as we do.

Trent had a horrendous game, midfield was nowhere to be seen and the front line was completely disjointed. If not for Alisson that scoreline could have been far more embarrassing.

Club needs to spend some money in summer, bored of getting dominated in the middle every match because we have to field a 37 year old combined with a 29 year old who both look well past their peak. Subs from Klopp killed anything we had going forward also.

Does anyone think Man City will try and buy a new LB before the summer ends?

Alberto Moreno would be a good shout.

Was having a look at the fixtures from now until the end of the season for City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Liverpool have the more favourable fixtures, over half are at home but there are some tough games for the reds (City, Villa, Everton and United come to mind) . Arsenal and City have to play each other too (at the Etihad) which makes the game at Anfield vs Man City a must win!

The concern is the injuries. Liverpool are going through a torrid time at the minute with injuries, we need some good news with regards to Szobo, Trent, Jota, Jones and Ali. Otherwise the season could be derailed.

In contrary it makes it all the more frustrating that Arsenal have been very fortunate this season (like last) on the injury front with their main core: Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Rice, Odegaard, Havertz, Saka and Martinelli missing combined 5 premier league games this season. It’s no wonder they look so good as their lineups are so consistent. Not wishing injury upon any players by the way, more a matter of pointing out the difference between both teams and why we’ve been so impressive this season.

Even Man City have had their fair share of injury issues this season.

I genuinely have no idea how this title run in is going to go. A fairly tale ending with Klopp would be perfect, however life is rarely that simple or poetic. A second premier league against the biggest cheats in the history of football would be fantastic. Couple that with (hopefully) a few other cups and I’d be over the moon.

Last season if you’d have said that Liverpool would be fighting for the title, in the EFL cup final and fighting in the Europa league and FA cup I wouldn’t have believed you.

Credit to Klopp and co, now let’s believe and support the lads. Hopefully this season becomes something special!

Don’t usually get irate at Liverpool but I can’t believe the handling of the transfer window.

It’s been laughably bad.

Signed two very good players, then seemingly stood still until the week of the season starting with numerous bids for our top target rejected.

Then dropped all interest in our previous top target to snub Chelsea’s move for Caicedo (with no indication he wanted to join us) and have subsequently missed out on our number one target to Chelsea.

Massive shame considering how good Lavia is and will be in the future. We’ve gone from being savvy operators to amateurs in the market.

It’s even more concerning that the trajectory of the club seems to be in the wrong direction. Numerous key members of backroom staff leaving without replacement to a short term fix with a director of football who we had to drag out of retirement.

Some clarity and stability would be greatly appreciated. The club seems an absolute mess.

First signing of the summer. Great bit of business that, Alexis is a fantastic player.

Moving forward I would really like to see us sign Thuram over Kone. Although Kone would also be a competent signing (just not as impressive) . I think Thuram has all the makings to be a world-class midfielder. Can play the defensive role but also excellent in attacking phases (so could be an ideal 8).

We also badly lack some real physicality and pace, Thuram has that in swathes. Fingers crossed we go hard on his potential signing. He's one of few midfielders in Europe with that size, athleticism and technical skillset.

I wouldn't be against the signing of both however. Whilst they are relatively similar Kone is much more suited to lying deep. Gravenberch would also be a good pick-up.

Be interesting to see what happens going forwards.

Window has closed. Disappointing, not surprising though.

Still think Gakpo will be a good addition, but in the grand scheme of things it makes little sense. The area that needs strengthening is quite evidently the middle of the park, we’re relying on an 18 year old who has recently converted from CB to be able to fill the void. Also relying on both Naby Keita and Thiago to not get injured when it’s inevitable they will. The drop off when Fabinho and Henderson came on against Brighton was alarming, Fabinho especially looks truly awful.

Optimism that Arthur is soon to be back, but realistically how reliable is he? How good is he? No one really knows.

I for one hope FSG either leave or get investment sorted, the squad evidently needs a bit of an overhaul. At least 3 midfielders and a defender in summer are needed, FSG certainly won’t grant the resources for this. With champions league qualification looking almost impossible that’s also another massive financial dent which would further inhibit our spending under Frugal Sports Group.

Club seems a bit of a mess behind the scenes also, an almost certain heir of arrogance. Wasn’t long ago before I was reading how Liverpool supposedly complete their transfers early before ‘laughing at other clubs scramble’ in the window just before the disastrous panic induced signing of Arthur in the final day of the summer window.

I hope this season acts as a grounding for those at the club. You can’t doubt the amount of appreciation we as fans have for the group of players and coaches however it certainly seems with some that it’s gotten to their heads. When have you seen a squad win 2/ 4 trophies in a season and then have 3 books published about it all lavishing praise on themselves and members of the back room staff?

Anyway, rant over. Blame can be cast all over the club. Including Klopp, Ljinders, FSG and the players. No one is immune from criticism. Liverpool need to invest in some players, change some coaching (not Klopp) and try and bring in a medical team that somewhat functions properly (17 hamstring injuries only halfway through a season is unheard of) and a new DOF.

This season is getting rather ugly.

Seems FSG don’t fancy investing anything any further into the club, only hope is a sale goes through sooner rather than later.

Klopp has just said the players don’t believe in the tactics anymore, Hendo saying there is no confidence in the dressing room. Klopp is the right man to turn it around but, unlike 20/ 21, there is so many issues it seems almost insurmountable to tackle it this season.

It would be handy if our owners would for once help him out and actually invest in the squad. I think they’ve been good owners on the whole but they’ve got away with a lot, investing next to nothing and reaping huge rewards from Klopp and co doing excellently with relatively limited resources.

Klopp is also partly to blame for his approach to the season, squad selection and tactics however.

Multiple issues, I hope they sort it out. It’s a dismal watch atm and I feel really sorry for the travelling fans who’ve paid lots of money to watch that absolute drivel.
