I watched the Spurs v City game and then the post match discussion. I thought Sterling should have had 2 yellow cards for diving and 1 red card for an over-the-top foul on Alli. Graeme Souness, who I have a lot of time for as a pundit, defended Sterling with such nonsense as “He’s not that type of player” and “He runs so quickly that sometimes he falls over his own feet”. Chris Hughton agreed with him. I can’t help thinking that they are defending him because he is British and if it was, say, Sadio Mané they would have condemned him as a dirty, diving cheat.

Mart LFC, feeling a little sheepish right now?

QF Ajax v Juve, Liverpool v Porto, Spurs v City, Utd v Barça.

SF Winners of Spurs v City play winners of Ajax v Juve
Winners of Utd v Barça play winners of Liverpool v Porto.

Good QF draw for the Mighty Reds. Rather play Barça than Utd in the SF.

Amid all the media nonsense about Klopp and LFC 'disrespecting the FA Cup', how about this - the date and time of the Shrewsbury replay has not been decided yet as the FA themselves cannot agree with the BBC and BT Sport when the game should be played.

Bad enough for Liverpool supporters but what about the 8,000 Shrewsbury fans who need to take time off work, make travel arrangements, etc? Just who is 'disrespecting the FA Cup' and ignoring the needs of fans here?

I was at the game yesterday and in all the excitement and tension of the final few minutes I missed a significant incident which I have only just seen on the Sky re-run of the full 90 minutes. Rafa Camacho came on at right back for the final 2 or 3 added on minutes. After Crystal Palace’s 3rd goal, they had one final attack and the ball was worked out to Wilfred Zaha inside the penalty area and one-on-one with Camacho.

He took Camacho on on the outside, like he had done successfully a few times against Millie, including the 1st Palace goal. If he had got past, he would have been through with a chance to shoot or cross. Camacho stayed on his feet, won the ball, Van Aanholt put the loose ball well over the bar and the game was won. Camacho can rightfully claim to have played an important part in a vital win. Nice one Rafa.
