I like how Vincent Kompany was so forgiving towards Darren England when Diaz's perfectly legitimate goal was ruled out earlier this season, saying humans make mistakes, when it's less so when he was subjected to some questionable refereeing from the same man over the weekend
I like it too that as a player he felt that the PL had the best referees and he could have a laugh about human errors with the referees after a game. Guess now that he's no longer among the big boys, suddenly he is seeing a different side of refereeing, or lack of favouritism, that he used to enjoy.
We are all biased towards our own causes. But the sheer number of managers that have eaten their own words since criticising Klopp and Liverpool for our reactions post the farce of Spurs game has been quite laughable. The louder they were then, the more vehement their complaints are now.

Many fans are upset with the utd-city result and understandably so
But I have a few thoughts on this
- we can only count on ourselves! And at this moment, we need no favours from anyone as the title is fully in our hands as it's City's. The game this weekend is HUGE!
- let's do our part too and win against Utd when we face them later this season. It was a shocker that we didn't beat them the last time and we can't blame anyone apart from ourselves.
- I hope our fans calling for ETH's head is not part of the decision making process in their recruitment as I did love for him to stay another 10 years at least. He might just turn utd into regular relegation battlers.
Can't wait for the weekend to come soon enough. I think we are 19 games away from quadruple greatness and I have a sensing we may get there.

Back to posting after a short break
Some brief thoughts on the last game and our players
1) I though the ref was poor, we were on the receiving end on such pretty bad challenges and it went on unchecked for awhile. Right after Jota went off, another flying challenge came in on Bradley and I did fear the worst. On the reverse, he was quick to give Brentford free kicks after free kicks after they dived. And how VAR missed Jota being wrestled to the ground with the flight of the ball passing over them, I'll never know. Thumbs down for me on the ref's performance.
2) Kelleher has gotten better as he played more games. He looked out of sorts in the 4-3 against Fulham but has gotten much better since. Could have done better maybe with the last 2 goals he conceded (first on footwork against Burnley, the second in pushing the ball away from goal though that was a reaction save from close range, so maybe I'm harsh) . But his overall play in catching, closing down, distribution has been good. Did a wonderful Jerzy Duden off the line claw away too in the last game.
3) Bradley, the biggest compliment is perhaps he reminds of Daniel Agger when he broke through back then. Young lad, new to the league but playing like he's a veteran already. He doesn't look out of place at all and his defensive know how is really top notch for a young kid. All to that the goals and assists he already has, makes losing TAA not as painful.
4) Jones, he'll be a big big miss. His energy, pressing, some quality on the ball and goal contributions. Think we have to play midfield differently since he and Szoboszlai are both out and our other midfielder probably can't match their intensity.
5) Endo, having an enforcer makes such a big difference in our midfield. The freedom he gives to others to attack cannot be understated. He also has some good qualities on the ball too. Glad to have him back.
6) Gravenberch, thought that was probably the most combative display since he came. I recall at one point he won the ball or rode a challenge, move on to carry the ball well and made a good pass. If he adds this energy, bite and hunger to his game, and added on his on the ball quality, he will be very very good for us. Perhaps doing what Keita was supposed to but never quite?
7) Elliot, seems to be better coming off the bench but am really glad we have him. Always busy, some quality on the ball and has always made an impact coming on as sub. If Jones, Thiago and Szoboszlai are really out, he'll be so key moving ahead.
8) Nunez, great goal. I hope he's fine, as him being on the pitch alone changes the way opposition defend against us. And when they don't on set pieces, that is what happens.
9) Jota, his runs and goals will be missed! I personally felt his injury wasn't all accidental. So I'm somewhat livid at the player and ref for allowing so much to go unchecked.
10) Salah, welcome back and hope he's not injured at all! Looks fresh, fit and fired up.
11) Thomas Frank, thanks but no thanks. Don't like his football now, lacks defensive sense and not sure if he's any good at all in football tactics and management.
Hope we can somehow get through this period of injuries and claim our first silverware this weekend!

The new handball rule seems to be -
If you are moving your hand towards the ball as the defender, it's not handball
City did it against Everton some years back when BS intentionally moved his hand towards the ball and MO did it today
But it found it strange it was Chris Kavanga today that didn't give the decision
Years back, TAA slipped against Everton, he gave a pen, VAR called him back and he didn't give it as much as 0.1s look and stuck by the pen he awarded
In that game TAA was already on the floor, back facing the attacker and the attacker kicked the ball on to his hand, today, MO was facing the attacker and still had control over his hands. Yet today, he waved it away. strange.

I've a confession
Our football the last 2 seasons for most parts was quite dire
There were some good and exciting games, but the most parts, tame
So I became less excited about watching us
The first 2 games of the season, we got the result and some flashes of good play
But nothing really spurring me
But since our latest win at OT, I've been watching replays and checking in on news again
We will have some not so good games, drop some points and concede some goals eventually
But it's nice to look forward to watching us play and wanting more after that
It's been awhile.

So our transfer window in summary
1) no contract renewals for the big 3 yet - very worrying
2) lots of sales and loans for players (completed or happening) that are on the fringes, unlikely to have much game time - done well actually
3) GK - trying to secure a good shot stopper but seemingly not so great with ball to fit, not sure if it's needed nor a priority given we have Alisson and so many emerging GKs - a confusing one at best
4) LB - I believe next summer this position needs to be looked at with the aging Robbo, so not concerned nothing's happen and perhaps Owen Beck can step up?
5) CB - looking light and more so if Gomez leaves, can we get one in soon, Iancio? - feeling concerned
6) RB - 2 great options for this season - all set
7) CM - plenty of options though I personally prefer a top class Destroyer but not sure that's how Slot wants to play (no disrespect to Endo as he has done a job but age is not in his side) - not particularly concerned yet
8) LW - we'll stocked and not sure if we need Gordon even if Diaz leaves - not concerned
9) RW - if Salah can keep his firm and durability up, we should be ok this season, though easing someone with great potential and rotating with him to keep him fresh will be great - concerned that it is on a lower priority
10) CF - with Jota, Darwin and Salah, seems well covered for now - not too concerned
So overall, we may not need to get too much business done, yet we are seemingly not getting key areas of CB, RW, DM?, plus the contract renewals sorted is somewhat worrying.
1 more week, let's hope we get some very pleasant surprises with announcements of renewals for the 3 man and a couple more signings that we really need.

haven posted in awhile due to family matters, but am glad to be back.
What going great so far?
1) kicked off the season with a win
2) Slot looks like a good coach, self-assured and clear tactical ideas. Also, like that he speaks in a non david brent manner.
3) our 2nd half play style is quit watchable
Whats not going great?
1) no contract renewals for VVD, TAA, Mo
2) no new signings in areas we need to reinforce (CB, CDM, RW)
3) not enough departures of players that have no future here (eg Nat Phillips)
Hopefully things will get better but am not too impressed with Edwards and Hughes for now.

It seems that within 3 weeks our season will be petering out
Sad though as come the end of March, I felt like we were in the ascendancy and wit players coming back, the quadruple was on
I felt it all went wrong in the home leg vs Sprata. We fielded too strong a team and the issues compounded from that point on
Against Utd were tired, wasteful and the way we were dumped out felt like it dealt a real psychological blow to us
We limped to victories against Sheffield and Brighton
Then again was wasteful and didn't win against a crap Utd again
Against Atalanta, wrong line up and tactics and soundly beaten, it's not longer a blip but we were flat
Against CP, though there was no inverted FB for first half, we lacked intensity
So to sum up our season and how it went all wrong
1) wrong lineup in key games
2) conceding first far too many times
3) wastefulness in front of goal
4) invert or otherwise, lacked intensity
All these were quite fixable issues I thought, as we did cope went some key players were out so I do think for most parts, the blame lies with the coaching team for the tactics and preparation and then some with the players for absolutely poor finishing
Truth be told our play for large part of this and last season was reminiscent of BR's team after the 2013/ 4 season
On a lighter on, both VVD and VDV (spurs) provided us with meme worthy slips this weekend. Guess these are things that can keep me entertained in the following stage of this season rather than hoping for more trophies
We rly had all of them in our hands but sadly, one wrong decision led to a chain of poor results and more wrong decisions and we are where we are.

Sadly
In a season where utd has been utter crap and losing just about to anyone, we didn't even beat them once
The match was for the taking, should have been out of sight by HT but we gifted them 2 goals (yes, the 2nd came about due to poor defending that allowed the chance though it should also be noted 2 players that just got subbed on where involved in the play, so. sigh) .
I don't think we can catch up to Arsenal's GD, can only hope we keep winning and they slip up somehow, especially against their London rivals
I don't see City dropping any more points and so if Arsenal or us don't win every remaining game, it'll be City's title again
The most frustrating part? Utd were utter crap and we didn't win (it's almost like karma for the 7-0 and 9-0 aggregate we had for the last couple of years) and we didn't learn from 3 weeks ago - wasteful with chances and losing concentration that allowed them back in. We'll see if there are any more twists and turns left.
