Eds, I'm curious what you think of the refereeing tonight. For me I think the first and third handballs were penalties, but the second was innocent and very hard to see, not to mention a very harsh penalty. On the first one, not only has it hit his arm in an unnatural position, but he has moved to block off firmino and then pen should be given for that alone. On the third one, he has made himself bigger putting his arm in an unnatural position and blocked the pass with his hand. I also think Sevilla's third goal was offside. I think the lino initially got it right. If the ball deflects off an opponent to a player who was in offside position when the initial ball was hit, then he is offside. The first touch from a liverpool player was a deliberate attempt to clear the ball in which he got solid contact, making it the point from which offside is judged. Also, the yellow against origi was utter garbage. Origi has his arm up and the sevilla player has put his head into on the way up and then again on the way down, should have gone the other way with a yellow for simulation.

This doesn't excuse the second half performance, which was woeful on all counts (except Kolo who was fantastic throughout) . Still it's a hard loss to take at the end of the day.

I've also seen a trend when we go into halftime looking very dangerous and then come out looking complacent and not switched on (Southampton, Newcastle, tonight) . Is this the players or is Klopp not good at getting his players to keep up the intensity when they're ahead. We all know what he can do to fire the players up when they've played badly, but I don't know if he can replicate it when we play well.

{Ed002's Note - I have no particular thoughts. Every game throws up a little contention. Every supporter looks for excuses. You will blame some one else tomorrow - just put it behind you and recognise that Klopp is there to be better - as what he is now is not, and has not been for some years good enough. He is smart enough to know that. In the words of one of my favourite poets, Langston Hughes:

I stay cool, and dig all jive,
That's the way I stay alive.
My motto, as I live and learn, is
Dig and be dug in return.

Suck it up and move on.}

Ed, what perfect lines you have chosen. we have to suck it up and move on and look forward to next season. no point in discussing things which cannot be rectified. i am sure klopp will learn from this. i am really excited for what liverpool can do under him next season.
