It sounds petty when we just played so well, but why couldn’t we do that versus Everton or united? The passion today wasn’t there that day, which is strange versus two rivals!

Anyone else think the European ‘giants’ are severely lacking in quality at the moment? They seem to be making poor buys, aging squads, and filled with weaknesses. The most complete teams I think in this CL are city and juve, discounting Liverpool for squad depth. Madrid’s big players are all over 30, and their attacking threat is nothing compared to years gone by.

Munich looked poor against us over two legs, United a shade of their former selves, and Barcelona tonight look an average team with messi keeping them afloat. As good a footballing side city are, I don’t think they’d be top 2/ 3 left in the comp in years gone by. It just seems they aren’t replacing at all the top players, Barcelona should have destroyed united tonight, but they couldn’t even play the ball out from the back. Like who sanctioned them buying, Kevin Prince boateng, Vidal and Paulinho before? Madrid sell ronaldo, and add vinicius, who may be decent one day, but no where near that level yet. Even PSG who have spent a few years buying well enough, even for the money, they will probably make a profit off mbappe one day,

It just seems to me that the gap between the best and the rest has lessened, and Ajax can beat Madrid, this is Barca’s first away win in the CL this year, Munich knocked out without a fight. the old guard is clearly failing but no real signs of the new coming through.

Just watched the road to Istanbul because I was impatient for the game and wanted some football on. Luis Garcia certainly had a knack of big goals! Baros was a strange one too, missed some absolute sitters early on!

I want to ask about Biscan, seemed to be in the team quite a bit, but I only really remember him as a bit part player. Was he any good? I don’t think I ever remember anything about him except tall!

I must say wolves look like a good outfit, they have quite decent depth. I know all the players are not say of our quality, but they have a good young squad and the ability to rotate fullbacks and wingers/ forwards without losing too much. While I don’t think they have enough for top four, they could challenge top six soon. I’d definitely take a handful of their players as squad players (not all of them, as in there is a handful I’d be satisfied if we signed)

With all this tv rights etc, why were there two Friday games on at the same time, and two Sunday games on at the same time? I know the league cup final is on, but if it’s not going to be televised, why not make it 3 on a Saturday?

Adama Traore using up two years worth of missing end product today and good timing!
City are so exposed at the back, and have to say Pep lost it for them today. He was too desperate for a win and left them even more open going to some kind of 4-4-2.

Otamendi diving in for the goal when jiminez didn’t even move the ball to beat him was great.

In fairness to Adama he was a constant thorn today, and he seemed to get fouled every five mins (although the ref only gave a foul every 10). Maybe not the best player but when you are under the cosh, like wolves were for the last 25, releasing the pressure with his pace and dribbling actually worked well today! Normally it’s headless running down blind alleys!

Think tomorrow will be our biggest test of the league season so far. Be interesting to see if we play the high line as usual, especially with vardys pace and willingness to run in, can see us getting caught. Gomez playing may not be a bad thing today.
Leicester are on a good run, at home, and I like the team they’re building, Maddison tielemens and ndidi is a good balanced midfield three. I’d match it and go Fabinho sitting with maybe Milner, and either Keita higher up or firmino and play origi - we have looked better recently when he’s played and we’ve adapted the format.

My heart says 2/ 3-1 us, but My head is thinking this could be our first dropped points!

Phew! That’s pretty much it!

Always feel when it gets like that we need someone to stand up, and Milner I thought was that guy. Gini always seems to sink away when it gets frantic. We just needed to control the ball at 3-2 and take control, but we just thought we’d score again. Hopefully lesson learned and we got the win.

Before I start this, I want to say, I love salah, he’s unplayable at times, and has been special for us.

But after all the talk of him leaving next year, is it the worst thing? At the end of the season he will be 28, possible 2/ 3 more seasons at the very top. Pace may start to decline from then, who knows, but it’s one of his main strengths. If he stays I won’t moan one bit, but if he goes I reckon we’d get a tidy sum and be in a good position to replace him. Him bobby and mane are all at a similar age, although i think bobby will have better longevity than the other two, being less reliant on speed. If they both stay until they are 30 and start to decline, it will be a hell of job to replace both. Kind of like robben and ribery at Bayern, until gnabry turned good, they never really did that, and he’s not at that level yet.

Vorm released by spurs, we could do worse as a number two.
