I was under the impression Slott's job tittle is Head Coach. Also the whole idea of having a sporting director is that there is continuity in bringing in players that suit the club and it's playing style and plans, regardless of who that Head Coach is, or in case they don't work out.
So the notion that Hughes is waiting to see how Slott performs in his first year or on his assessment on what his squad needs before we make any signings rather makes his job redundant.
It is correct know one here knows what goes on behind the scenes day by day, but it is also abundantly apparent that we have not strengthened our squad in areas that we need.
Slott has had a fairy tale start to his reign but for club to rest on it's laurels in saying we have a strong enough squad and cannot find anyone to strengthen it, is a very risky strategy. If we don't win either the league or Champions League from this position, one in my opinion that will have seriously backfired.
