Based on our current form we should be more concerned with securing champions league places than the title. 6 games to go with a 11 point cushion. Sounds good but it's hard to see where our next win will come from if this form continues.

So my thoughts on the last few days is that money talks. Yes Chelsea are arguably an elite club with their own draw from recent history without the money but when you have an owner willing to pay relatively untested young players over £200k a week for the next 6-8 years that will trump all else. Its not just chelsea either with the Saudi league buying in some top talent to play in a sub par division for outrageous amounts of money. Who can blame them though. If you take the rose tinted glasses of and you were offered 2 jobs one of which pays double the other, 9 times out of 10 you'll go for them.
That all said I think their needs to be some serious questions asked of the recruitment team. Why on earth they spent 2 weeks bidding for lavia going up increments of £2-3m when they new the price wouldn't budge knowing they had the money available to then go and try and outbid team owned by a cash splashing billionaire for a player they had shown no interest in baffles me beyond belief. They should have focused on lavia, paid the price and got the deal done. I don't know how much Jorg was involved with all of this but he's meant to be heading this and I think it's fair to say he's out of his depth.
Not sure how we recover this window and I'm sure this will have a knock on effect on the pitch with the general mood around the club being in the gutters.

If reports from skysports are accurate Real will be signing Bellingham for a fee between £77-88m. I appreciate if we were still in for him the price would have been driven up from this and that things like payment structures etc would probably be issues but can't help be disappointed that we missed out on our top target for a fee that by all accounts is between £30-40m cheaper than what everyone was quoting around Jan. Surely we could of pushed the boat out to get the top target. I know I'd rather pay upwards of £80m for one quality player rather than 2 promising players at £35/ 40m. We didn't settle when it came to Allison and virg and look how that turned out.

I wasn't able to catch the game but just saw that Allen was subbed at half time for Lucas. Was this due to injury or another predictably poor performance? If the latter the old saying of "first impressions count" spring to mind!
