Thiago would have made a massive difference today, City's press badly unsettled Liverpool in the midfield, however Thiago is virtually press-resistant and would have grasped a lot more control from the game, and especially would have made Jones' life easier.

That being said, I'm really happy with the way we rebounded from that first half Jar Jar Binks performance. Rubbish first halves like that can just happen, but not many teams could suddenly reverse the momentum after the break and lay a couple on City after being severely pinned back in the first half.

A very frustrating result but I take solace in that Liverpool were just a bit too casual and their own worst enemies, it's not like Brentford exposed a major shortcoming that needs to be rectified in January.

Our back four was largely responsible for dropping points today, yet we wouldn't swap our back four for anyone. These crap results can just happen, oh well.

Chelsea's defeat shows why I'm still far from being convinced that they are the outright favourites for this league title. It is a narrative which is actually based on very little, people have confused a great cup run in Europe with a capability to do it over 38 games against City and Liverpool. Chelsea have proven to be fantastic in cup games and when their back is against the wall to grind out a draw or hold a lead, but you CANNOT win the league in this day and age when you play that negatively at home against a title rival. As much as Tuchel got everything right in the final, Pep also got everything wrong and he showed today that he learned his lesson.

As a football traditionalist, I'm actually stoked that CR7 is back at United. Seeing Ronaldo at City would've made me feel sick in the stomach. Those oily, soulless persons don't deserve him. Even the most ardent Liverpool fan has to admit that it's great to have him back in the premier league, and no other club than United would've felt right. It's good for the rivalry when both teams are challenging for the title.
