Everton are making some good signings but they need to keep away from players like Rooney. Past his best, will cost a fortune and will disrupt what they are doing. I'm all for sentiment but sentiment doesn't give you progress.

We tapped players up in the past. That was wrong. We were reprimanded and we should've learnt our lesson and moved on, everyone makes mistakes and is stupid from time to time. But after that we carried on doing it over and over and over until it was splattered all over the press and we missed out on one of our main targets all whilst being made to look like arrogant idiots.
As well as the above we tried to low ball Burnley when we bought Ings. Made then a crazy low offer and decided to head to tribunal to sort it out instead. At the tribunal we ended up paying more than Burnley said they would take for him because we had no clue how it really worked. Now it would appear we are just doing the same over Solanke, low balling Chelsea and being arrogant enough to think the tribunal will definitely go in our favour.
Given the insane prices this summer I could well see Solanke being assessed at around £10mill. (Sorry for the prices about to follow Eds, they are taken from the best source i know but might be false) . Swansea paid £11mill for a 28yr old midfielder who has never had an international cap (even at youth level) and played for a decidedly average Las Palmas team. Newcastle just paid £6mill for Christian Atsu who never once played for Chelsea, couldn't get into the Bournemouth team when he was there and barely played for Everton when he was there, has done nothing whatsoever to show he will be a decent premier league player, now or in the future.
How much is a tribunal going to cost? I'm sure the FA aren't doing it for free? Plus the fees for the lawyers or "experts" to plead their case.
Why not just made a more reasonable offer and see if Chelsea would compromise? Instead of just arrogantly thinking that we can pay whatever we want.

I don't think the tribunal works the same way as transfer fees do.
They look at what the player has done in their professional career, development time of the previous club etc.
I'm going to trust what i've read on this occasion, and hazard that the compensation fee will be around the reported £3million.

And yes you are correct. A tribunal recognizes the cost which his previous club spent on hus development. And not his actual transfer value.

Cheers Reet, I've been about for ages on the main Liverpool Banter site, just don't post much.

Thanks I did a surgestion regarding articles you could write about yesterday. Any idea if you and Harry edd 1 and Benny ballser will be doing a podcast I saw you guys might be doing one soon just wondering if any ideas if coming together.

No idea if the rumours are true but if Ben Gibson is available for less than £20mill he has to be just as good a buy as Van Dijk if not better.

Just wanted to say that I hope that the families of the 96 get all the help and support they need today and over the coming few weeks/ months, regardless of what the outcome is today.
Either outcome will result in extreme emotion and i just hope that those severely affected by this have the comfort they need.
If any of our fellow posters on here are directly involved then I am sure I speak for all of us when I say that you are in our thoughts and we wish you the best.

Can anyone actually explain the reasoning behind the League Cup only counting away goals after extra time?
It just seems like madness. It gives the away team in the second leg an extra 30minutes to score an away goal.

Wow. I think I almost agree with Harry.
We do need to be winning things to keep our best players. The best players in the world want to be winning, not scraping top 4 and getting to a few finals, winning.
I'm hopefully that with the right end to the window we can really start to challenge on a couple of fronts next year.
It's looking good so far but it's what it looks like at midnight on the 31st August that matters.
Big Barry the Butcher had a great game at left back for my Sunday League team on the weekend. I mean yeah he's 43 and is getting rounder by the month but he's still got a decent throw in and has "great feet for a big man" I'm sure Brendo could curb his worrying Frazzles and Lucozade diet.
Any chance we could go for him if Moreno and Rojo don't happen?
