Something for you lot to ponder about.
Now that some time has passed since it, what do you think about Brendan Rodgers's reign and his legacy (Good or bad) here?

ReetRed

1.) 19 Jul 2017 17:59:30
Terrible, ruined a few players and got lucky with 2nd place.

{Ed042's Note - That's certainly one outlook. }

2.) 19 Jul 2017 21:40:10
Meh. Great. Terrible. The question is how much of the great was down to him or Suarez. I'm leaning towards Suarez. Also what was his obsession with collecting attacking mids?

Hey guys. I was thinking of getting back to writing articles and all. So if anyone here has any specific topic they'd like me to write on, feel free to share. Preferably Liverpool related of course.

Top ten reasons Liverpool will have a great season. top ten reasons Liverpool will have a horrid season.

{Ed042's Note - Maybe something like strengths and weaknesses once we get closer to start of the season?}

2.) 10 Jul 2017 08:03:18
Player of the season predictions. worst player of the year predictions.

3.) 11 Jul 2017 13:56:44
How about a "where are they now? " series? Not limited to players still playing, but also ex players who have retired but stayed in the game.

Could focus on how well/ badly they've done since they left, who they're with now, improvements in the players, coaching ability/ reputation for players who have retired.

Would be an interesting read, and i'd imagine it would be pretty interesting to research for you.

4.) 11 Jul 2017 14:28:11
Yeah that seems like an interesting idea. Maybe make it a weekly column thing. Perhaps 2-3 players in one article?

5.) 11 Jul 2017 20:45:38
Sounds dead on, you'd at least have one reader!

Among all the players that are rumored to be on sale now, which is one player you would'nt like to be sold?
(No Coutinho lads)
For me it's Sturridge. I really believe he can recover his form of 13/ 14. And his fitness seemed to be improving the last season.

ReetRed

1.) 09 Jul 2017 19:09:51
Sturridge would be my choice too. He is a terrific player, and I think he has been unfairly criticised with regard to his injuries and insinuations of being unwilling to play unless 100% fit.
There were many times last season when he was overlooked in favour of Origi.
Sturridge is the best striker we have, and it does my head in to read posts where "fans" suggest he should be sold as being in any way surplus to requirements.
People forget the brilliant goal he scored in the he defeat against Seville, or the impact he had at the end of last season in assuring the top four finish.
Given an injury-free run, he can repeat his 2013/ 14 form and keep us in the top four.

{Ed042's Note - Agreed. I think people just don't realize how devastating injuries can be. And the effect they have on your mental state. And instead of being supported he is abused everytime he misses a game. }

2.) 11 Jul 2017 13:58:56
I'd hate to see Mane leave

Think he could have come close to 20 goals last season if he hadn't been away for AFCON and injured at the end of the season, and selling him would make the Salah purchase half as effective, as we'd still only have one player stretching the game and getting in behind.

I very much doubt he WILL leave, but if he has a great season, i'd expect him to be very much in demand next summer.

{Ed042's Note - I feel losing him will be more of a blow to our team than losing any other player. Fortunately no clear interest in him as of right now }

07 Jul 2017 08:26:58
Something for today.
Who do you think will be our standout player of the coming season?
For me I think it'll be Mane as he can really go onto another level this year with no AFCON and hopefully no injuries.

1.) 07 Jul 2017 11:55:20
My guess would be Coutinho as he gets better year on year and now next season he will be played in centre midfield where I think he can show off his talent the best.

{Ed042's Note - He is a safe bet too. But he does goes through lulls. Hopefully with Mane and Salah on the wings we can see some of the Coutinho from back when he joined us}

To get the conversation going here, I'll post a few questions here from time to time. To start off
Who would you describe as our most underrated player (All time and Current Squad)?
For me it's Gary Mcallister and from the current squad Roberto Firmino.

ReetRed

1.) 05 Jul 2017 08:16:52
momo sissoko and origi for me.

2.) 05 Jul 2017 09:09:01
Steve finnan or Fabio aurelio from my life time, Firmino now. Other supporters don't yet realise just how good Bobby is.

{Ed042's Note - Yeah. Normally when people talk about our best players, Bobby rarely gets any mentions. And there's the large contingent that still wants a new striker }

3.) 05 Jul 2017 15:59:22
In the current squad I think wijnaldum is underrated. Excited to see if he can build on his first season with us.

{Ed042's Note - He did start out kind of slowly but I think he was one of our better players in the second half of the season }

4.) 05 Jul 2017 16:45:36
Danny Murphy / Steve Finnan / Dirk Kuyt all underrated for me, All were vital to the team that they played in at the time that they played (if that makes sense) .

From today - well, most players are over hyped and overrated, I struggle to think of one really. I do believe Sturridge is not fully appreciated and Lucas has struggled for years to receive the acclaim that he has deserved.

Cheers.

{Ed042's Note - I though about including Lucas but I think in the last few years people have realised his importance gradually. But yeah for his first 4 or 5 seasons he did get a lot of abuse}

5.) 05 Jul 2017 19:03:40
Of the current squad it would have to be Wijnaldum for me Reet. Other than that, maybe Lucas. As far as past players, it's hard for me to say. I think Aspas could've been good if given a chance, but I don't know if I'd call it underrated.

Overrated would be easy. He's currently playing at Citeh, but call me biased 😏.

6.) 05 Jul 2017 20:22:49
i opted for origi, cause no one seems to remember how unplayable he was pre injury against everton. this boy has real talent and hope he realises that with us sooner rather then later, could save us some quids.
bobby i thought got more recognition amongst liverpool fans and with work on his finishing, could easily be amongst the top strikers.
Lucas is just incredible, will be sad to see him leave, but wish him all the best where ever he goes and hope to see him at the club again.

{Ed042's Note - I think the problem many have with Origi is that his development completely stalled this season. He was a shadow of the player who was running ragged the Dortmund and Everton defense. Hopefully he can get back to that this season. He is still very young. }

Well he doesn't dab. That automatically makes a notch higher than Pogba.

Hey. Rugby Parker. Couldn't leave an Ed's reply on your post as I was busy with something. Welcome to the site mate
And yes you are correct. A tribunal recognizes the cost which his previous club spent on hus development. And not his actual transfer value.
